When I announced my candidacy for Mayor of Somerville, I can honestly say I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the outpouring of support from residents across the city has been overwhelming. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am so proud of this team and more confident than ever about what we will be able to do together for the city we call home.
First of all, we've raised more than twenty thousand dollars since our announcement. Those contributions, big and small, are critical to allow us to bring on staff and organizers and get our message out. I am so grateful to everyone who helped put the campaign on such a strong foundation so fast.
Our volunteer list is now nearly a hundred strong and growing fast. We will soon be launching canvasses (safely!) and phonebanks and engaging with voters in every neighborhood in the city. There is nothing I like more than getting to meet our neighbors and hear their stories, their concerns, and their hope for the city, and I’m thrilled to be doing it alongside so many committed residents.
In addition to the contributions and volunteer signups, the emails people have sent and the support on social media has reminded me of the impactful work we have already done, and the confidence people have moving forward. And the most common question: “What can I do to help?”

Continue to spread the word on social media. Let your friends and family know that you share our hope for effective, principled, progressive leadership for the city.
Let me know what you think is important for our city! My leadership approach is based on listening to people’s concerns and aspirations, and I want to hear from you.
If you have an issue or two about which you’re especially passionate or knowledgeable, stay tuned for how join our team. Next week, we will be announcing our plan to put together a policy committee for the campaign. Somerville voters have issues. Lots of them. And I’m committed to make sure we’re addressing them all.
