To make Somerville more equitable and safe, Katjana’s administration
- Created pay equity standards for all employees union and non-union
- Launched a Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot to aid our lowest-income residents – the first of its kind in Somerville.
- Accelerated food security initiatives, providing nearly 600 monthly food boxes to 8 public housing sites and multi-use grocery cards to more than 1,000 students.
- Invested in new civilian Jail Diversion Clinicians within our Police Department, to prevent the long-lasting impacts of incarceration
- Began implementing the recommendations of our Public Safety for All, Civilian Oversight, and Anti-Violence working groups
- Named a Public Safety for All Project Manager to advance the path laid out in the Public Safety recommendations, that come from our community
