Christine Barber Endorses Katjana for Mayor
State Representative Christine Barber (34th Middlesex district) has endorsed Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne for re-election. Ballantyne is currently serving her second term as Mayor.
“Mayor Katjana Ballantyne puts her heart and soul into Somerville, listening to the community's needs and delivering results on issues like housing affordability and climate change,” said Barber, “We have worked closely together on issues like affordable housing, supporting immigrants, responding to the climate emergency, and transportation safety and access, and Mayor Ballantyne has demonstrated the urgency of tackling these hard issues. As we find ourselves in very challenging times, Mayor Ballantyne continues her work as she has always done – by reaching out and listening to diverse voices all over the city. I am proud to support Mayor Ballantyne for re-election.”
Barber, who lives in Somerville, has worked with Ballantyne since the latter’s days as City Councilor. “I am grateful for Representative Barber’s support,” said Ballantyne. “She has been an important partner in ensuring that Somerville remains a place where all our residents have a seat at the table and have the opportunity to grow and thrive. It is especially important given the uncertainties coming from the Trump administration at this time.”
