Under Katjana's leadership, Somerville developed our first Bicycle Network Plan and embraced the Safe Streets Ordinance, the best of its kind in the country. Thanks to streamlined partnerships between different city departments and more robust community outreach, Somerville is delivering more effective traffic calming projects and delivering them more quickly. New protected bike lanes are more thoroughly separated from cars, and better integrated with floating bus stops and curb extensions. Katjana brings an ambitious vision of safer and better streets, and a proven track record of delivering on that vision.
