Somerville Firefighters Local 76 Endorse Katjana
Firefighters cite her “strong advocacy”
Somerville Firefighters Local 76 has endorsed City Councilor Katjana Ballantyne to be the next Mayor of Somerville.
“Our membership recognizes your strong advocacy for improvements needed to better our Local, particularly the need for a permanent fire department presence in the Assembly Square section of the city,” said Michael Jefferson, Local 76 President. “Your willingness to always answer when called upon and sit down to have discussions on the issues has never gone unnoticed or unappreciated.”
Ballantyne, whose extensive career in public and private service has focused on issues like improving public safety, affordable housing, combating climate change, and fighting for inclusion and equity, said, “Thank you Firefighters Local 76 for your endorsement. Somerville's first responders are frontline heroes and I'm grateful for your support.”
Ballantyne, who has twice been elected as president of the Somerville City Council, has been endorsed by the Mass Women's Political Caucus PAC, and by her colleagues; State Representative Christine Barber, Councilor-at-Large and City Council Vice President Mary Jo Rossetti, Ward 5 Councilor Mark Niedergang, and former President of the Board of Aldermen Rebekah Gewirtz.
Somerville Firefighters Local 76 is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters AFL-CIO-CLC and the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.
