Teamsters Endorse Katjana Ballantyne to be the next Mayor of Somerville.
Union lauds her having “worked tirelessly on behalf of Somerville’s working families”
Teamsters Local Union No. 25 has endorsed City Councilor Katjana Ballantyne to be the next Mayor of Somerville.
“Since being elected to the Somerville City Council, you have worked tirelessly on behalf of Somerville’s working families, ensuring that workers have a strong, vocal voice on the City Council,” said Sean M. O’Brien, president of the local. “We commend you for your support of the City Council Resolution that ensures that Amazon meets or exceeds Community Standards that Somerville expects of its’ employers.”
Ballantyne, whose extensive career in public and private service has focused on issues like affordable housing, combatting climate change, improving public safety, and fighting for inclusion and equity, said, “The endorsement by Teamsters Local 25 underscores my continuing efforts on behalf of working families in Somerville. Organized labor is an important partner in making our city a better place for workers to live, work, and raise a family. I’m proud to receive their endorsement.”
Teamsters Local 25 is one of the largest Labor Unions in Greater Boston, made up of nearly 12,000 members from Eastern Massachusetts including nearly 500 Teamster Local 25 Members, Retirees, and their families that live or work in the City of Somerville. It is affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
