Katjana's experience as an immigrant taught her to value differences, her thirty years' leadership experience in volunteering, community development and in international business taught her to value inclusive leadership and she envisions Somerville as an inclusive, equitable city where we can all thrive together.

Katjana believes that making our streets safe and accessible should be a priority. So, when the Massachusetts Vision Zero Coalition asked Somerville's mayoral candidates to address street safety, she didn't hesitate to respond.

Toni Whitmore says that Katjana "cares about each and every resident of Somerville. She’s caring, she’s knowledgeable, and she is the right person for our new Mayor.”

David Scott got to know Katjana while they were both volunteers making lunches for school kids. “The thing that people should know about Katjana is that she cares about her neighbors. She cares about all of the people in Somerville, and that’s going to make her a great mayor.”

Krishan Kalia has lived in Somerville for 20 years and owned the Teele Square Market for 13.

Just to let everyone know, I will not be participating in the ORS mayoral forum. I have explained why I am uncomfortable with how the processes had been conducted. I am sympathetic to the continued concerns of numerous community leaders. And I don't feel it was appropriate to announce a forum mere days in advance.

The residents of Somerville will be well served by the six debates and forums already scheduled in the coming months and that will be more than sufficient for a robust discussion as we address the issues facing the city.
